PrimaSound jury

Primanima is one of the few festivals with awards specially dedicated to sound, which is great, because it also brings sound into focus for a couple of days besides visual contents, giving us a chance to talk about it, and give feedback to the creators through the awards. Sound has a key role in animation: these films usually don't have a real set or location recorded on camera to limit the post production work, there is no location sound, so the director and sound designer can rely more on their imagination.

The sound jury comes together every year. We are colleagues and friends, who all think that creating quality sound is essential, as well as teaching and guiding young artists into this direction. We try to put our current projects aside for the time of the festival, which is not always easy. Some of us are returning members of the jury every year, but we always look for new, young sound students to involve. We must mention the way it all began too: sound designers Tamás Zányi and Gábor Balázs accepted a friendly invitation in 2012, when the festival awarded its first prize for sound, and they laid the foundations for the work of future PrimaSound juries. The festival is not only about work of course, and we are glad to go and see all the additional programmes besides the screenings every year at Primanima.
