Synopsis

In a quiet, strictly synchronised convent, a newly initiated nun cannot keep the rhythm. After a small mistake, a mysterious tattoo suddenly appears on her body. As she panics and tries to hide it, things only get worse. Calm routines begin to slip, revealing that the sisterhood moves to a beat of its own.

Is there someone in this bed? A sleeper train travels along the mountains at night. Titi sleeps on the bed above her mother's. She reaches out to an empty berth. Titi stares at the receding horizon, imagining her father pushing the train... Suddenly, her mother steps out into the corridor. Another train passes by. Abruptly, images of her recent breakup with Titi's father resurface. *Film inspired by the first page of the book 'Vulturne' written by Leon-Paul Fargue.*

Synopsis

Etching in Motion is made from a series of five etchings; each of which function as an image in their own right, whilst depicting the frames of the animation. The animations are inspired by the work of pioneering photographer Eadweard Muybridge. In each etching, I painted the frames of looping animations, which are accompanied by a soundtrack recorded exclusively from the sounds made in an etching workshop.
