Sasha Svirsky was born in 1980 in the USSR. He graduated as a painter and is a self-taught animator. His work explores the possibilities of digital animation, challenging its conventional use as an entertainment medium. He approaches animation as an artistic tool, using it to conduct visual experiments and to create philosophical narratives and essayistic films. His works have premiered at major festivals and have received numerous awards.
