Openings – Láng Orsolya's and Molnár Jacqueline's exhibitions

Láng Orsolya: Timeline

The material of this exhibition can be seen as a visual diary recorded from November 2022 to the spring of 2023. One day, I accidentally bought a pack of 100 expired photo papers. And then I started drawing on the backs of these 9x13 cm pieces of paper. I enjoyed the limitations of their form, and that I can place them back into the box like postcards when they become full. I recorded dreams, impressions of the day, little details that caught my eye on the streets, ordinary objects, or the general mood I was left in at the end of the day. Or whatever came to mind. A daily practice of freedom. This little package can be interpreted or viewed as an analogue timeline, if you will.

Molnár Jacqueline

Although I graduated from the Animation programme of the Hungarian University of Arts and Design, I spent the last 25 years mostly illustrating children's books. This exhibition presents a selection of the illustrations created for these over 50 volumes. The pictures were made using collage, acryl, tempera, ink and pencil techniques.

I also included a few photos from my Lockdown Diary, made during the 3 months of the strictest lockdown. Isolation had changed our day-to-day lives, the way we related to life and creativity. I tried to bring a sense of humour to the situation in a period when isolation, fear, desperation and a feeling of helplessness were pressing down on us all.

The exhibition also displays the series "Plan B" I'm currently working on, which is a call to think together about climate change, war, peace and our common issues. If our planet becomes uninhabitable, it is our shared responsibility.
