CAKÓ 75

Ferenc Cakó, Kossuth Prize-winning graphic artist, animation film director, Meritorious and Excellent Artist, master of still and moving images, sand animation, and father of  Sebaj Tóbiás and Zénó, among others, is a versatile and unique phenomenon in contemporary visual art.

The exhibition of this Budaörs-based artist opening at PostArt is unique in several respects: it is his first exhibition in this city, and it showcases a lesser-known aspect of his work, his refined and detailed etchings, most of which were created during the pandemic.

The foundation of his fine art work is drawing, and his exceptional graphic art cannot be separated from his painting; both are characterized by spectacular and attractive form creation and the transition between fantasy and reality.

In addition to his studies in applied graphics, he was also attracted to the intaglio printing techniques of reproduction graphics at the College of Fine Arts, where he thoroughly mastered the technique of copperplate engraving and often creates visionary copperplate prints.

On the occasion of his 75th birthday, a major anniversary exhibition organized by the Hungarian Academy of Arts will open on November 18 at the Pesti Vigadó, and to mark the occasion, the CAKÓ75 series of public meetings has been launched, one of the stops being an event in Budaörs combined with a live sand animation performance.

The exhibition will be opened by:    Balázs Feledy, art writer

Musical accompaniment:    Csaba Pengő – double bass

The exhibition will be open until November 14, 2025.
